Mardi Gras Social, HeartLink, Scholarship Auction & FSS Weekly

Our Mardi Gras Social is next Tuesday, Feb. 5th at 6:30pm at the base chapel!  Dress up, bring a friend & a dish to pass child care is provided!   See all the details here! Come out and join us for some fun and fellowship.  See the great relationships and connections YOU can make here at Mountain Home and start some memories for yourself and family to last a lifetime! 

 

We encourage all new spouses, fiances, partners of Airmen stationed at MHAFB to attend at least ONE HeartLink class.  There is no better way to learn about all the great resources the base has for you, to help and encourage you when it comes to military life.  The next class is Thursday, February 21st at the Gunfighter Club.  It's from 8:30am-2pm.  To register, call the Airman & Family Readiness Center at 828-2458.  Child care is not available, so please plan ahead.  The information you receive at HeartLink is invaluable!!

 

Tickets are now available for the OSC's Scholarship Auction!  Tickets are $15 a pc for the auction on Friday evening, March 8th.  Lisa McClellen of the OSC will be at our Mardi Gras Social/Meeting this Tuesday if you would like to purchase tickets then, and will talk a bit about the auction.  Cash or check accepted.  If you cannot attend the meeting, or unable to get your tickets at that time, you can purchase them at the Thift Store on base (located in the same building as the Gunfighter Attic) on Thursdays from 10am-2pm.  You can call during those hours with any questions at 828-2534 or email Lisa at mountainhomeoscrsvp@gmail.com .  The event is Friday, March 8th  Check out the pictures from last year's event HERE!

Mardi Gra Social, MSOY, Happenings & FSS Weekly

Hello all!  Our next general meeting is going to be a Mardi Gras Social!!  Tuesday, February 5th at 6:30pm at Liberty (base) Chapel.  That's right!  Bring your best masks, beads or even costume and enjoy fun time with everyone while finding out all the great things we have planned for the ESC in 2013!!  Bring a southern or themed dish to pass!  Families are welcome to the social, and there will be child care during the general meeting.  You can check out the invite on Facebook HERE and RSVP!

 * * Congratulations to MHESC President, Sunshine Burgess, who was voted at Military Spouse of the Year 2013 for Mountain Home AFB through Military Spouse Magazine polls.  She won at installation level, and now goes up for the award for our entire Air Force Branch!!  Well deserved and great job!!! * *

Exciting News!! A Must Read!!

Hello Spouses!  What a great meeting!  Thank you to all those that braved the snowy roads and attended last night.  We want to make sure to extend the invite for next meeting * Mardi Gras Social Tuesday, February 5th at 6:30pm at Liberty Chapel on base.  Child care is always provided. Please note that although active dues members must be the spouses of retired or active duty military, we accept all those that are willing to participate as social members, as well as our honorary members of the Officers Spouse's Club.

We went over our funds raised at the Craft Bazaar in November as well as the Gift Wrapping Booth in December.  New member Jessica Jones was drawn for our volunteer Family Game Night gift basket, and Cheryl Chamberlain passed the Peer-to-Peer gift along to Christi Matthews for all her time and support in the ESC over the last years.

Through our fundraising efforts, you might have heard that we now co-sponsor HeartLink through the Airman and Family Readiness Center.  Through our donation, no spouse will ever need to be turned away do to funding and cap limitations on the program.  We are excited to be a part of this amazing program.  The next HeartLink is Wednesday, February  20th from 8:30am-2pm.  In an ongoing effort to support our base spouses, we HIGHLY encourage you to attend HeartLink if you have not already.  This is a great resource for all new and new to base Air Force Spouses as they go over everything offered to you FREE on base, as well as getting the opportunity to meet some of the other amazing spouses and leaders on our base.  To sign up, call the A&FRC at 208-828-2458.

If you had not heard, this December the Enlisted and Officer Spouses' Clubs teamed up and surprised airmen, families and veterans at the Commissary by randomly passing out Commissary gift cards.  It was truly an amazing experience for the board members to be able to see the tears of joy and smiling, surprised faces of those that were chosen. Just another way our clubs give back to our Air Force and military families.  It's because of YOU and YOUR volunteer efforts that we are able to give so much to so many.

WHAT IS CRUD?  The Ladies Crud League is starting soon, so if you would like to join in, it's $10 for the season, due January 25th.  There will be open practice on Friday, January 18th and 25th at 6pm in the Doom Room of the Gunfighter Club so you can come out and see this fast paced, fun billiard game!  Grab your friends and form a team... spouse, enlisted, commissioned, civilian... it doesn't matter.  There's only two requirements... 1. Female and 2. Able to get onto base!

The Nominating Committee put up the following members for the new executive board positions:

President - Sunshine Burgess

Vice President - Taylor Martin

Treasurer - Stephanie Gray

Secretary - Cheryl Chamberlain

Since there was only one person slated for each position with no opposition, it was moved and seconded to vote on the slated positions, and was passed with majority vote.  These new officers were sworn in and will start the process this month of planning fundraisers, socials and events.

The following positions will be appointed at the end of this month.  If you are interested in any of the positions, please reply to this email:  A very brief description is given for each.

Parliamentarian -  Keeps the board and general membership meetings, events and fundraisers aligned with the club's constitution and bylaws.

Social Committee Chairperson - Helps plan, organize and delegates the  volunteers at our social and family events.

Historian - Our ESC photographer!  Captures our events and distributes photos to Facebook and members.

The Membership Chairperson's paperwork and dues duties have been split between the Secretary and Treasurer.  As members we ALL have a duty and a responsibility to invite, recruit and bring other spouses into our ESC family and make them feel apart of something amazing.  Those that have been members a while can attest to the great things we've done and the friendships that have formed.  We truly care about and support each other, and getting the word out about our organization is everyone's "job"!

New Year - New Elections

Happy New Year!!!  We have an exciting year ahead of us, and we would love for YOU to be a part of it!!  We hit great strides in 2012 with our fundraising efforts and were able to give more generously than we've been able to in the past.  Come see what we're all about and the difference we've helped make in the lives of our military families this past year!

Our January ESC meeting is next Tuesday, January 8th at 6:30pm at Liberty (Base) Chapel.  We will be holding our officer elections at this meeting.  You must have been a paid member in 2012 in order to run or have dues paid up by this meeting to vote.  Child care will be provided.  You can RSVP here on the FB event.

The Gunfighter Health & Wellness Calendar is out for January.  These classes are FREE, so be sure to check them out and see if there are any that will be beneficial to you, your spouse or family!  Call the A&FRC at 828-2458.
