ESC Meeting Tuesday & Lots of Events for Your Calendar!!

Hello Spouses!   First off, THANK YOU for all you do and the impact you make here at Mtn Home AFB.  Without all the amazing things both our spouses clubs and our volunteers do, we would not be able to do all the wonderful things for the families of our military members.  If you are new to MHAFB, know that the Enlisted and Officers Spouses have a solid relationship between the two of us and socialize, support and do our best to help one another, in the spirit of family and friendship.  Please keep in mind that the Enlisted Spouses Club is for any spouse of any branch, active, reserved or retired, and we would love input from the male spouses too!!  When it comes to our fundraisers and social, everyone is welcome to lend a hand whether military or community.  Please pass along this email to your fellow squadron spouse and make sure they are informed of all the great things happening.  The list at the end of this email is only a small taste!!

FSS Base Operational Hours for this holiday weekend can be seen here.. http://mhafbfun.com/temporary/Labor%20Day%20Hours%202013.jpg

First off, our next ESC meeting is this Tuesday, Sept 3rd at 6:30pm at Liberty (Base) Chapel.  We will briefly go over a lot of these upcoming events, and making our volunteer lists and afterwards, we'll be having a BUNCO Social, so if you have never played before, this will be a great opportunity to learn, as well as socialize and get to know some of the other spouses you may not have had a chance to meet, as the tables/teams rotate after every round.  Child care is provided, and if you have a teen that has been through the child care training at the Youth Center, feel free to have them tag along and help out!

If you haven't seen yet, before the meeting/social, there is a Dress Swap Event at the Chapel Tues, Sept 3rd from 4-6pm.  This event is designed for you to find a no cost option for the ball. If you have a gown you would like to lend to another military spouse for this event please contact me at the number below. No sales will be permitted at this event. ALL military spouses are encouraged to participate.  Participation is voluntary and at your own risk. POC: Tiffany Bodge (907) 347-8022, call/text with any questions or tiffanybodge@yahoo.com

Air Force Appreciation Day is next Saturday, Sept 7th in town at Carl Miller Park.  WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR FACE PAINTING!!  Contact me, if you would like to volunteer for an hour or 2, or enough to relieve for a break.  I will also be taking names at the meeting Tuesday.

Check out these upcoming events below, as well as the FSS Weekly Update below!!   If you have questions about anything, feel free to reply.  Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!!

Lots of Great Info! Check it out!!!

Good morning spouses!

First I would like to thank all that donated backpacks, and all those who came out to help stuff and help at Operation Homefront's Back to School Brigade.  We had over 250 registered and stuffed 310 backpacks!  What a great event!  I do hope if you had school aged children that you participated.  This event put on every year and is for ALL military, retired, active, reserve, etc.  Doesn't matter what rank, or what your household income is.  Keep that in mind for next year.  A lot that are well off registered and gave their backpacks to families in need, and all the leftover school supplies we had from our Dollar Tree collections were divided up and delivered to all the Mtn Home Schools Tuesday and Wednesday.  It's so great to be able to help out our military families and community!  So, thank you again to all our amazing volunteers!

Onto ESC business!  Our next meeting/social is Tuesday, September 3rd at 6:30pm at Liberty Chapel on base.  Child care is provided.  If you have a teen that is certified through the youth center that would like to volunteer, please contact me at 208-585-7127.  We will also be looking for volunteers for Air Force Appreciation Day on September 7th for face painting at our booth at Carl Miller Park.  Contact me, or let me know at the meeting that you would like to help out.  You can work in hour or two hour periods.  It's up to you!  Even if you want to stop by and relieve someone at the booth for 15 mins so they can grab a bite to eat, or check out booths themselves.  If you just PCS'd in, or have never experienced Air Force Appreciation Day here in Mountain Home, you are definitely in for a treat! :)

The Air Force Ball is quickly approaching!  It is being held on base in Hangar 211 on Saturday, September 27th and you must purchase your tickets by the 13th.  Check the following link for more information, ticket prices, menu, attire and contact information for more details visit http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e7x8ngnu4b41006f&llr=r6cpyznab

Also, contact me if  you need the flyer for a AF Ball Fundraising event.  Pizza Hut is donating 20% of the proceeds from your pizza purchase to the AF Ball fundraising committee.  Present the attached flyer while dinning at Pizza Hut or enter "Force" into the promo code when ordering online!!

The Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce is one of the sponsors for this year's HERO2HIRED event on September 12th. Please help spread the word on this great event. It is open to veterans, active duty military, members of the National Guard and Reserves, and military spouses!  Contact me for more info!

Volunteers, Back Pack Brigade, FSS Weekly

Good morning spouses!

Have some fun in the sun and come on out to Les Schwab in Mtn Home on Saturday, August 3rd from 9am-3pm for our Car Wash Fundraiser.  Make it a family affair, have your teens bring their friends, spouses bring your significant others and people from your squadron.  Come help us raise some money so we can continue to do the wonderful things that the MH Enlisted Spouses Club does for our military families.  Reply to this email or contact me, Cheryl Chamberlain, if you plan on helping out that day!  (208)585-7127

As you may or may not know, registration for Operation Homefront's Back Pack Brigade has started!!  No matter rank, sign them up to receive a free backpack of school supplies at www.operationhomefront.net/mountainwest then come to Gunfigther Park on base on August 12th btwn 3-6pm to pick them up while enjoying games and fun times with other military families!

Also, we NEED BACK PACKS!!!  The school supplies are being taken care of by donations from customers at local Dollar Trees, but we plan on doing up to 500 back packs, so new back packs can be dropped off in the collections at the Base Hospital lobby, at the Thrift Store and the A&FRC.  You can also drop off at Say Tan's and my home on base as well.  If you wish to help stuff back packs for the event, again, please contact Cheryl Chamberlain (208)585-7127.

Our next meeting is August 6th at 6:30pm at the base chapel.  Mark it on your calendar and bring your friends and family!!!

Be sure to download the new "MyAirForceLife" app on your smart phone!  You can check Mountain Home and keep up to date on all the events, announcements, specials, look up phone numbers and more!

Hope you all are enjoying your summer!!  Have a great weekend!

OH Backpack Brigade & FSS Weekly

Good morning spouses!  First off, the ESC would like to congratulate all those that made the TSgt results this morning, and all those graduating ALS tonight.  What a great day for our Gunfighter family.

Just a reminder that there is NO meeting in July.  We will resume meetings on August 6th, and are planning to have a family and member appreciation BBQ that evening as well.  Keep your eye on your email and our Facebook page for details.   Our car wash fundraiser will be August 3rd at Les Schwab from 9am-3pm.

We will be teaming up with the MedSpouse group to pull off Operation Homefront's Backpack Brigade.  More details to come, but you can start it off by putting the word out there that we are looking for backpack donations.  Walmart and Ross and other outlet stores have some for $3-5, and if you are a working spouse, seeing if your company wants to help out with donating backpacks would be great as well.  There will be several drop off spots, including my home in the bricks on base 5A Elm St.  Again, more details to come, but we will be needing volunteers Monday, August 12th to help with the back to school bash at Gunfighter Park where we will distribute the backpacks, and have different booths and activities for the kids.  If you would like to get involved, please respond to this email and let me know, or call me at 208-585-7127.

Below is the FSS Weekly.  Check out all the fun stuff to do including the Mother Son Dance tomorrow night at the Service Center Ballroom!  Have a great weekend!!

JUNE EXITEMENT!

Good morning Spouses!!  Are you getting out there and enjoying this amazing weather we've been having lately?  I sure hope so!  With PCS season underway, we are saying goodbye to a lot of women that have touched our lives and touched our hearts.  Two women that we definitely want to give a shout out to are Laurie Smith and LeAnne Weimer.  We wish you all the luck your hearts and hands can hold!  You will be truly missed. <3

We also have a lot of our AD deployed, so that's why it's so important that you show your support to our spouses by joining us for our June meeting/social.  Tuesday, June 4th 6;30pm at the base chapel.  (Child care provided)  We won't have a whole lot of "business" but we do have an awesome social project we will be working on that will be given to Key Spouses to deliver to their deployed spouses.  This is an amazingly unique gift, and we'll need all the bodies we can to get all of them assembled, so be sure to come out!!  Also, you'll get the change to meet our new MHAFB Command Chief's wife, Caroline Claire del Valle.  It's a great chance to give her a warm welcome as she is excited to meet all of you and get involved as much as possible.  Be sure to mark it on your calendar, and join us for this special get together.

Below is the FSS Weekly!  Remember, if you have any questions, concerns or ideas for the ESC, be sure to contact us!  Have a great week!!

GM/Zumba Social, Scholarship Dinner, FSS Weekly

Good morning fellow spouses!  How have we been enjoying the 70 degree weather lately?!  We have some exciting things planned for the enlisted spouses in the next few months, so be sure to keep an eye out for updates.  Please remember, that you do not need to be a member to attend our socials!!  Membership is required to attend/vote at our general meetings and help make decisions in regards to our charitable donations.  Membership helps pay for food, some activity fees as well as our insurance and PO box for the year.  We highly encourage membership, as it can cut the cost or possibly make socials free for members.  We are spouses supporting spouses and their families, so please let other spouses know, get involved, and help us to build up our membership as we try to make a positive impact and encourage all our families.

That being said, next Tuesday, May 7th, is our GM and Zumba social!!  Child care is available and even if you don't want to participate in the Zumba workout with the lovely Shannon Foster, feel free to enjoy an evening of fellowship and getting to know some of the other enlisted spouses on base.  Meeting starts at 6:30pm at the base chapel (Liberty Chapel) and we are normally wrapped up by 8pm.  Come on out and check out the fun!!

Next Tuesday is also the deadline to let our ESC President, Sunshine Burgess, if you will be attending to support our scholarship winners at the dinner May 14th.  You may RSVP here, or let her know at the meeting.

There are lots of fun events happening on base and we look forward to seeing you all at many of them and supporting our base and town.

Have a great weekend!
