  • FSS is proud to provide quality events and entertainment for the airmen and families of Mountain Home Air Force Base.  Regretfully, they will be cancelling their Texas Hold ‘em and Bingo event that was scheduled for Friday, 24 February.  Even though they extended their sign-up deadline through last Friday, they were unable to procure sufficient sign-ups for this event.  They will be offering another Texas Hold ‘em event on 16 March, so mark that date down on your calendar.  We encourage you to visit them on Facebook or our website at www.mhafbfun.com for the most up-to-date information on what they have to offer.
  • The Vet Clinic will be offering discount microchip services on Friday, March 16 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get your pet(s) a microchip and it is required for overseas travel. No appointment needed, any additional health concerns must be addressed during a scheduled visit to include vaccinations. For questions contact the vet clinic at 828-2221.
  • March's general membership meeting and social is at the Bowling Center on Tuesday, March 6th at 6:30pm.  Meeting will be in the party room, and then stick around to socialize! College Grant Applications Up For Grabs

Applications for the General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant Program  are only available from the Society’s website, www.afas.org, but the submission deadline is rapidly approaching.  Completed forms must be received by AFAS no later than 9 March 2012.

These $2,000 need-based grants are open to dependent children of active duty, active guard/reserve, retired and deceased Air Force members.  Spouses of active duty members residing stateside and surviving spouses of deceased personnel are also eligible.  All applicants must be enrolled as full-time undergraduates at an accredited college or university during the 2012-2013 academic year, and are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA).

Selection is heavily based on cost of attendance, family income, and is dependent on the number of eligible applicants competing.  Final need assessment will be determined by an independent agency.

All interested students are encouraged to review full eligibility requirements, procedures and application instructions on the Society’s website.

Don’t miss out on a chance for college cash through a program with an average selection rate of better than 50%!  Apply NOW!

The Air Force Aid Society, a non-profit organization, is the official charity of the U.S. Air Force and has been providing emergency and education assistance to Air Force families for 70 years.

Heartlink, Scholarships, Military Word of Mouth

Happy Wednesday!!  Last night's meeting and social went great!  Fun costumes and excellent food!  Don't forget about our Girl's Night In coming up on the 25th as well as March 6th Meeting & Social at the Bowling Center.  More information to come!

FYI's:

If you would like information regarding the MFU-Ai Scholarship for military spouses please contact the ARFC at 828-2458 or email Cheryl Chamberlain at cheryl@cherishablemom.com for the information.  It's a great opportunity to get funding for school!  Military Families United has joined forces with The Arts Institutes to offer four $25,000 scholarships to Military Spouses!  We are very excited about this new partnership and the opportunities it will provide for Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard and Gold Star spouses around the country.  This program is ideal for the military community as it can be applied to either on-campus or online classes.

February's HeartLink is TOMORROW.  Attached is the agenda.  If you haven't signed up yet, please contact Tina or Carol at the AFRC 828-2458

As military, our families move all over.  A great resource that is being built on and updated all the time is "Military Word of Mouth".  You can find them online at http://militarywom.com/ or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/militarywordofmouth
